Welcome to the Black and EmpowerED Series by Culturally Restorative Learning Supports, LLC. Our program is designed to empower communities to come together and address common challenges impacting Black and African descent students. By leveraging community circles, focus groups, and design thinking techniques, we aim to create solutions that foster a culturally restorative and academically supportive environment for Black students.

Culturally Restorative Learning Supports, LLC's commitment to fostering an inclusive, culturally grounded, and academically supportive environment for Black students. We believe that by working together, we can create lasting change and empower our communities to thrive.

Various community circles have raised concerns about issues such as academic progress, sense of belonging, and disciplinary actions affecting Black students. Additionally, incidents of bullying, harassment, and challenges like imposter syndrome, retention of black staff and teachers, and question on how to create successful parent engagement have been documented. Our 5-month educational series seeks to empower the community to address these issues by engaging in meaningful dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.

Background

The purpose of the Black and EmpowerED Series is to bring together parents, students, educators, and community members to collectively tackle these challenges. By sharing stories, identifying problems, and designing culturally restorative solutions, we aim to enhance the educational experiences of African-American students at all levels. Our sessions are grounded in research on culturally restorative learning, which has been shown to positively impact academic achievement, sense of belonging, and overall well-being.

Purpose
